DANGEROUS LYRICS

The way she came into the palce
I knew right then and there
There was something different
About this girl

The way she moved
Her hair, her face, her lines
Divinity in motion

As she stalked the room
I could feel the aura
Of her presence
Every head turned
Feeling passion and lust

The girl was persuasive
The girl I could not trust
The girl was bad
The girl was dangerous

I never knew but I was
Walking the line
Come go with me
I said I have no time
She said don't you pretend we didn't
Talk on the phone
My baby cried
And left me standing alone

She's so dangerous
The girl is dangerous
Take away my money
Throw away my time
You can call me honey
But you're no damn good for me

She came at me in sections
With the eyes of desire
I fell trapped into her
Web of sin
A touch, a kiss
A whisper of lvoe
I was at the point
Of no return

Deep in the darkness of
Passion's insanity
I felt taken by lust's
Strange inhumanity
This girl was persuasive
This girl I could not trust
The girl was bad
The girl was dangerous

I never knew
But I was living in vain
She called my house
And said you know my name
And don't you pretend
You never did me before
With tears in her eyes
My baby walked out the door

She's so dangerous
The girl is so dangerous
Take away my money
Throw away my time
You can call me honey
But you're no damn good for me
Dangerous
The girl is so dangerous
I have to pray to God
'Cause I know how
Lust can blind
It's a passion in my soul
But you're no damn lover
Friend of mine

And then it happened
She touched me
For the lips of
A strange woman
Drop as a honeycomb
And her mouth was
Smoother than oil
But her inner spirit and words
Were as sharp as
A two-edged sword
But I loved it
'Cause it's dangerous

I cannot sleep alone tonight
My baby left me here tonight
I cannot cope 'til it's all right
You and your manipulation
You hurt my baby

She's so dsngerous
The girl is so dangerous
Take away my money
Throw away my time
You can call me honey
but you're no damn good for me

Dangerous
The girl is so dangerous
Take away my money
Throw away my time
You can call me honey
But you're no damn good for me

Dangerous
The girl is so dangerous
I have to pray to God
Cause I know how
Lust can blind
It's a passion in my soul
But you're no damn lover
Friend of mine

List of search engines and directories

The databases used by search engines are made by "robots" or "spiders" that automatically map the Web by following the links between sites. The directories, on the other hand, contain sites that are hand picked by human beings. Still, most search sites present search engine as well as directory results. Metasearch engines gather results from several search engines and directories. They are not that good at advanced Boolean searching, but may provide you with a broad sweep of the Web.
Traditional search engines list normal webpages and some other file types that are interlinked to from such webpages. The database sites, however, give you access to data that are not part of the Web as such. See also sites focusing on the hidden Web below.

Types of software Testing

Software Testing Types:

Black box testing - Internal system design is not considered in this type of testing. Tests are based on requirements and functionality.

White box testing - This testing is based on knowledge of the internal logic of an application’s code. Also known as Glass box Testing. Internal software and code working should be known for this type of testing. Tests are based on coverage of code statements, branches, paths, conditions.

Unit testing - Testing of individual software components or modules. Typically done by the programmer and not by testers, as it requires detailed knowledge of the internal program design and code. may require developing test driver modules or test harnesses.

Incremental integration testing - Bottom up approach for testing i.e continuous testing of an application as new functionality is added; Application functionality and modules should be independent enough to test separately. done by programmers or by testers.

Integration testing - Testing of integrated modules to verify combined functionality after integration. Modules are typically code modules, individual applications, client and server applications on a network, etc. This type of testing is especially relevant to client/server and distributed systems.

Functional testing - This type of testing ignores the internal parts and focus on the output is as per requirement or not. Black-box type testing geared to functional requirements of an application.

System testing - Entire system is tested as per the requirements. Black-box type testing that is based on overall requirements specifications, covers all combined parts of a system.

End-to-end testing - Similar to system testing, involves testing of a complete application environment in a situation that mimics real-world use, such as interacting with a database, using network communications, or interacting with other hardware, applications, or systems if appropriate.

Sanity testing - Testing to determine if a new software version is performing well enough to accept it for a major testing effort. If application is crashing for initial use then system is not stable enough for further testing and build or application is assigned to fix.

Regression testing - Testing the application as a whole for the modification in any module or functionality. Difficult to cover all the system in regression testing so typically automation tools are used for these testing types.

Acceptance testing -Normally this type of testing is done to verify if system meets the customer specified requirements. User or customer do this testing to determine whether to accept application.

Load testing - Its a performance testing to check system behavior under load. Testing an application under heavy loads, such as testing of a web site under a range of loads to determine at what point the system’s response time degrades or fails.

Stress testing - System is stressed beyond its specifications to check how and when it fails. Performed under heavy load like putting large number beyond storage capacity, complex database queries, continuous input to system or database load.

Performance testing - Term often used interchangeably with ’stress’ and ‘load’ testing. To check whether system meets performance requirements. Used different performance and load tools to do this.

Usability testing - User-friendliness check. Application flow is tested, Can new user understand the application easily, Proper help documented whenever user stuck at any point. Basically system navigation is checked in this testing.

Install/uninstall testing - Tested for full, partial, or upgrade install/uninstall processes on different operating systems under different hardware, software environment.

Recovery testing - Testing how well a system recovers from crashes, hardware failures, or other catastrophic problems.

Security testing - Can system be penetrated by any hacking way. Testing how well the system protects against unauthorized internal or external access. Checked if system, database is safe from external attacks.

Compatibility testing - Testing how well software performs in a particular hardware/software/operating system/network environment and different combination s of above.

Comparison testing - Comparison of product strengths and weaknesses with previous versions or other similar products.

Alpha testing - In house virtual user environment can be created for this type of testing. Testing is done at the end of development. Still minor design changes may be made as a result of such testing.

Beta testing - Testing typically done by end-users or others. Final testing before releasing application for commercial purpose.

Happy Testing!!!

Knowledge @ Wharton - India Economic Conference

APJ Abdul Kalam:"A Leader Should Know How to Manage Failure"

RTL coding guidelines - Doing it right the first time!

* Document in detail interface timing and signal descriptions, clock and reset strategy, modular view of the design and FSMs prior to RTL coding.

* Have a comment “header” for each module with functionality description, version and a log of past changes. This can be managed using a revision control system like CVS.

* Do not include more than one module in one file and the module name should match the filename in the design.

* Be generous while adding comments where necessary - like inputs and outputs.

* Indent your code and use Emacs verilog mode for connectivity to keep it error-free. Refer to Veripool’s guide on AUTOs.

* Split the design into separate modules based on clock domains.

* Use separate always @ blocks for sequential and combinational logic. Always use non-blocking assignments for sequential logic and blocking assignments for combinational logic.

* Avoid “parallel_case full_case” compiler directives and always add a default clause for case statements.

* Do NOT assign the same variable in more than one always@ block.

* Use “if-else” only for priority encoders and case statements for parallel states.

* Avoid inferring latches in the design, clock gating and instantiating gates in the design to keep it technology independent.

* Register all inputs and outputs in the design to ease timing closure.

* Use dual stage synchronizer cells available in the library than two stage flops for synchronization.

* Use reset synchronizers for asynchronous resets. Add DFT bypass muxes for reset and clock controllability where necessary.

* Avoid combinational loops in the design to aid timing analysis and DFT

* Avoid using clock as data for flop inputs for hassle free DFT insertion.

* Do not mix posedge and negedge flops in the same module where possible.

* Always separate the combinational and sequential logic in a FSM with two always@ blocks.

* Always code with design reuse in mind - For example, FIFOs can be made generic and can be customized by passing parameters while being instantiated.

* Remember the thumb rule - Be conservative in what you transmit and be generous in what you receive

* Parenthesize all operations without depending on the reader to figure out the precedence of operators.

* Add assertions where necessary to aid verification

* Lint your design for syntax/sematic checks and clock-reset policies.

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you have to think before you speak to me!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
my presence ever makes you feel uncomfortable!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you have to thank me for everything i do for you!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you have to say sorry for everything that you don't do!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you have to ask me for favors!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you think i would not be curious to know your new philosophy of life!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you go by what i say and do not understand what i don't say!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you think that listening to your dreams would put me to sleep!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you think that seeing you in pain, would not bring a tear to me!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you think I do not remember the first time we met!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you don't see the thousand ways I try to make you happy!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you don't realize how your smile brightens up my day!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you would rather keep quiet when you really wanna talk!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you hesitate to ask me to stay back when you think we should be together!

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND IF.....
you take too much time to tell me what i mean to you!

The Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism - A Study in Spiritual Evolution

Dhyaan BuddhaA constant intriguing factor in the imagery of the Great Buddha is the group of three curving conch-like lines on his neck. In the varied world of Buddhist art this is one common characteristic that shines across all aesthetic traditions. Like other Buddhist motifs, it too is soaked in rich spiritual symbolism. It is said to represent Buddha's deep and resonant voice, through which he introduced his followers to the path of dharma.

The association of the conch shell with Buddha's melodious voice, sweet with the tenor of his uplifting message, has both an archetypal simplicity and universal appeal. It is a hard-hitting symbol which associates a primordial object (deemed sacred in all ancient traditions) with the actual physical body of the Buddha. Indeed, though much of Buddhist philosophy is esoteric, when it comes to aesthetics, Buddhist art is justly famous for giving a physical, easily recognizable representation to abstract philosophical truths.

Buddhism has evolved over the centuries a complex, yet discernable scheme of symbolism which has found adequate expression in Buddhist art. Undoubtedly, the most popular of such symbols is the group of eight, known in Sanskrit as 'Ashtamangala,' ashta meaning eight and mangala meaning auspicious. Each of these symbols is also individually associated with the physical form of the Buddha.

These eight auspicious symbols of Buddhism (Tib. bkra shis rtags brgyad) are:

1). A Conch Shell

2). A Lotus

3). A Wheel

4). A Parasol (Umbrella)

5). An Endless Knot

6). A Pair of Golden Fishes

7). A Banner Proclaiming Victory

8). A Treasure Vase

Difference between Linux and UNIX

Q. What is the difference between Linux and UNIX?

A. UNIX is copyrighted name Only big companies are allowed to use the UNIX copyright and name, so IBM AIX and Sun Solaris and HP-UX all are UNIX. The Open Group holds the UNIX trademark in trust for the industry, and manages the UNIX trademark licensing program.

Linux is UNIX clone

But if you consider Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) standards then Linux can be considered as UNIX. To quote from Official Linux kernel README file:
Linux is a Unix clone written from scratch by Linus Torvalds with assistance from a loosely-knit team of hackers across the Net. It aims towards POSIX compliance.
Linux is just kernel

Linux is just kernel. Linux distribution includes GUI system, installation and management tools, compilers, editors etc. Linux distribution makes it

Most UNIX oses considered as compete operating system.

As I said earlier Linux is just kernel with Linux distribution makes it complete usable os. Most UNIX oses comes with A-Z programs such as editor, compilers etc. For example FreeBSD comes with A-Z programs.
License and cost

Linux is Free (as in beer [freedom]). You will see best community support around. Many UNIX oses are not free (but this is changing fast, for example OpenSolaris/Solaris UNIX).
User-friendly

Linux is considered as most user friendly UNIX like os. It makes easy to install sound card, flash players, and other desktop goodies.
End user perspective

The differences are not that big for the average end user.
System administrator perspective

Again, the differences are not that big for the system administrator. However, you may notice difference while performing following operations:

1. Installation procedure
2. Hardware Device names
3. Admin commands or utilities

Difference between C and C++

Actually c is a procedural programming language which
cann't face the real world problem. It has some drawback
like a global data is shared by all function and if in a
large program it is find out difficult that which function
uses which data.

On the other hand c++ is an object oriented programming
language which eliminate some pitfall of conventional or
procedural programming language. It is a concept or
approach for designing a new software. It is nothing to do
with any programming language although a programming
language which support the oops concept to make it easier
to implement.

in c we use scanf function as standard input function, while
in c++ we use streame cin>> for input.like this for output
in c we use printf function, while in c++ we use cout<< as a
output function.

in c we use #includeas iclusion file,while in c++
we use #includeas inclusion file.

This is the main difference between c and c++.

C - C++

DATA IS NOT SECURED - SECURED

TOP DOWN - BOTTOM-UP

FOCUS ON PROCEDURES - FOCUS ON DATA

PROGRAMS ARE DECOMPOSED - INTO OBJECTS
INTO FUNCTIONS

allocation is done - NEW OPERATOR
with malloc statement

UNOINS AND ENUMS - AVALIABLE
ARE NOT AVALIABLE

DOES NOT PROVIDE - PROVIDES
DEFAULT ARGUMENTS

* C does not have any classes or objects. It is procedure and function driven. There is no concept of access through objects and structures are the only place where there is a access through a compacted variable. c++ is object oriented.

* C structures have a different behaviour compared to c++ structures. Structures in c do not accept functions as their parts.

* C input/output is based on library and the processes are carried out by including functions. C++ i/o is made through console commands cin and cout.

* C functions do not support overloading. Operator overloading is a process in which the same function has two or more different behaviours based on the data input by the user.

* C does not support new or delete commands. The memory operations to free or allocate memory in c are carried out by malloc() and free().

* Undeclared functions in c++ are not allowed. The function has to have a prototype defined before the main() before use in c++ although in c the functions can be declared at the point of use.

* After declaring structures and enumerators in c we cannot declare the variable for the structure right after the end of the structure as in c++.

* For an int main() in c++ we may not write a return statement but the return is mandatory in c if we are using int main().

* In C++ identifiers are not allowed to contain two or more consecutive underscores in any position. C identifiers cannot start with two or more consecutive underscores, but may contain them in other positions.

* C has a top down approach whereas c++ has a bottom up approach.

* In c a character constant is automatically elevated to an integer whereas in c++ this is not the case.

* In c declaring the global variable several times is allowed but this is not allowed in c++.

Delhi Metro enters Noida, to open to public tomorrow

12 November 2009

NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro achieved another milestone when a brand new train chugged into the satellite city of Noida for the first time paving the
way for thousands of commuters in east Delhi and adjoining areas to enjoy the new age transport system.

The 13.1 km Yamuna Bank-Noida line was inaugurated by Union urban development minister S Jaipal Reddy in the presence of chief minister Sheila Dikshit at the newly-built Akshardham station here.

Reddy flagged off the first train with destination to Noida City Centre (Sector-32). This is the first time a Metro train formally enters Noida.

The line, which will be opened for public from 6 am tomorrow, is expected to bring a paradigm shift in the travelling habits of thousands of people in east Delhi and trans-Yamuna areas.

The Noida corridor, built at a cost of Rs 630 crore, is completely elevated and will be integrated with the existing 34.3 km Yamuna Bank-Dwarka Sector-9 segment, extending total length of the Line-3 to 47.4 km.

The line is also the first where the DMRC missed its deadline. The corridor was scheduled for opening in October.

DMRC has projected that about 53,000 passengers daily are expected to join the new age transport system after the opening of the Noida corridor.

The DMRC will run eight brand-new broad gauge trains, procured from Bombardier, on the line presently.

Hewlett-Packard to Acquire 3Com

Hewlett-Packard said on Wednesday that it had reached an agreement to acquire 3Com, a provider of computer network equipment, for $2.7 billion in a deal that H.P. plans as a springboard for an assault on the market leader in networking, Cisco Systems.

Paul Sakuma/Associated Press

Hewlett-Packard's headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif. The company said its acquisition of 3Com will help improve its business in China.

In an interview, Ann M. Livermore, an executive vice president of H.P., described computer networking as a $40 billion-a-year market with high profit margins that is growing briskly and dominated by Cisco, which has so far had little head-to-head competition.

“H.P. is eager and now positioned to disrupt the networking industry,” Ms. Livermore said.

The offer price, $7.90 a share, is at a premium of about 39 percent to 3Com’s closing price on Wednesday. The deal was announced after the market closed.

Under Mark V. Hurd, its chief executive, Hewlett-Packard has been beefing up its network equipment offerings to compete more aggressively against Cisco to sell data center equipment to corporations.

But so far, H.P. has mostly supplied smaller equipment used in office networks, both wired and wireless.

“What we’ve been missing is networking for the core of the data center,” Ms. Livermore said. “That’s where Cisco is strong, and before, H.P. couldn’t attack that.”

This year, Cisco went after one of H.P.’s core businesses by entering the market for server computers used in data centers. Cisco also recently teamed with EMC, another technology giant, to sell data center equipment to businesses.

H.P. also provided investors with an early look at its earnings for its fiscal fourth quarter, which ended in October, and raised its estimates for the next year. The company reported a profit, excluding some items, of $1.14 a share in the fourth quarter, which slightly beat expectations of a $1.12 a share, as compiled by Thomson Reuters.

Revenue in the quarter was $30.8 billion, down 8 percent from a year ago. But the company’s sales performance beat analysts’ forecasts by $1 billion.

H.P. joins a series of technology companies that have reported better-than-expected results recently, including Intel and I.B.M.

“Solid execution drove exceptional performance for H.P. this quarter, fueled by significant growth in China,” Mr. Hurd said in a statement.

H.P. also raised its forecast for its 2010 fiscal year. The company said it expected revenue for fiscal 2010 to be $118 billion to $119 billion, up somewhat from its previous estimate of $117 billion to $118 billion. It forecast earnings per share, excluding some items, to be $4.25 to $4.35, up from the earlier forecast of $4.20 to $4.30.

In 3Com, H.P. is acquiring a company with a rich heritage in network technology and a solid product portfolio, analysts say. But it lacks Cisco’s size and credibility in the data center market, where large corporate customers look for strong suppliers who can provide a full range of products and services.

H.P. may well be able to fill those gaps, with its strong services, storage and server computer businesses. “3Com, with H.P.’s backing, is capable of making a real run at Cisco,” said Rob Enderle, an independent technology analyst.

But analysts said that while 3Com would give H.P. crucial technology to broaden its reach in networking, further product development and marketing investment would be needed to compete directly with Cisco in large data-center accounts. “It will be a two-year process to roll this out,” said Jeffrey Evenson, an analyst at Bernstein Research. “This is a longer-term play.”

While trailing well behind Cisco in most markets, 3Com is strong in China. Half of its $1.3 billion in sales comes from the Chinese market. Three hundred of the largest 500 companies in China, and 70 percent of government agencies, use 3Com equipment, Ms. Livermore said.

Last year, a deal to sell 3Com for $2.2 billion to an alliance of Bain Capital, a private equity firm, and Huawei Technologies, a Chinese maker of networking equipment, fell apart after a federal review panel, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, expressed national security concerns about the transaction.

3Com shares were up more than 30 percent, at $7.67, in after-hours trading on Wednesday. H.P. shares were down slightly. Trading in 3Com call options — contracts to buy 3Com shares at a fixed price — surged Wednesday to their highest level since September 2007, suggesting that word of the deal may have leaked before the announcement.

Yamaha R125 is packed with a 125cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve, single cylinder, SOHC engine with a six speed gearbox that is tuned to deliver free-revving performance right through to generate maximum power of 14.5bhp at 9,000rpm.

Yamaha R125

The chassis of Yamaha R125 is inspired by racing bikes that features a deltabox frame and aluminium swinging arm that offers outstanding handling performance. Its lightweight 5-spoke wheels help to minimize unsprung weight to give impressive roadholding. A large diameter of front disc brake with 292mm and a 230mm diameter rear disc make for effective stopping power, and the aggressive R-series sporty bodywork lets everybody know exactly from where this bike’s DNA has come from!

Just like its larger R-series brothers, the new Yamaha R125 features a lightweight deltabox frame that delivers an optimum balance of strength and rigidity to increase handling performance. Its twin spar deltabox design makes it a one of the lightest and best-handling frame designs in the supersport category, and its use on the new Yamaha YZF R125 underlines Yamaha’s total commitment to build the best-handling machine in its segment.

Goravanahalli Shree Mahalakshmi Temple - Tumkur

Goravanahalli Shree Mahalakshmi Temple

It was less than 2 hour journey to reach Goravanahalli covering a distance of around 80km from Bangalore. Goravanahalli is the abode of Shree Mahalakshmi, Goddess of wealth and prosperity. It is one of the famous pilgrimage centers around Bangalore, drawing a lot of devotees from Bangalore and elsewhere.
Goravanahalli Shree Mahalakshmi TempleGoravanahalli is located in Koratagere Taluk of Tumkur district. It is said that Abbayya, a poor man was blessed to get the idol of Mahalakshmi. After worshipping Mahalakshmi at his home, Abbayya became rich. He started doing charity work and his home earned the tag ‘Lakshmi Nivasa’. Later Abbayya’s brother Thotadappa joined Abbayya in his charity work. After the death of Abbayya, Thotadappa was performing poojas to the Goddess. One day in his dreams, Mahalakshmi asked him to build a shrine for Her. So, Thotadappa built a shrine for Mahalakshmi. After Thotadappa, Chowdayya was performing poojas. But from the year 1910 the temple was in a neglected state.
Goravanahalli Shree Mahalakshmi Temple Main EntranceIn the year 1925, Kamalamma on arriving at Goravanahalli, saw the neglected state of the temple. She started performing the poojas for the Goddess. Then again after a year temple was in a neglected state, when she left the place. But then in 1952, Kamalamma was back in Goravanahalli and settled there. After this regular poojas were performed by Kamalamma. People wait in queue for the darshana of Shree MahalakshmiIn due time, temple attained fame by word of mouth. Tuesdays and Fridays are considered very auspicious here and lot of people visit the temple in these days of the week. Lakshadeepotsava is one of the revered religious programmes here in Karthika maasa. How To reach Goravanahalli : KSRTC buses ply from Bangalore and Goravanahalli. Also, one can reach the place from Tumkur, Doddaballapur or Koratagere. Hired/own vehicle is also a good option as Golden quadrilateral multilane road leading to the place gives a cool experience.

Devarayana Durga

Devarayanadurga (Kannada: ದೇವರಾಯನ ದುರ್ಗ) is a hill station near Tumkur in the state of Karnataka in India. The rocky hills are surrounded by forest and the hilltops are dotted with several temples including the Yoganarasimha and the Bhoganarasimha temples and an altitude of 3940 feet. It is also famous for Namada Chilume, a natural spring considered sacred and is also considered the origin of the Jayamangali river. Another famous temple in the area is the Mahalakshmi Temple at Goravanahalli.

Getting there

It is 65 km from Bangalore, India, by road on Tumkur road. The nearest railway station is 25 km away in Dabbaspet.

There are 2 routes to this place.

1. From Banglore, go till Dobbespet. Go under the flyover and take a right. (note: The left here leads to Shivagange betta and right leads to Devarayandurga.) This road is in quite bad shape and it is a longer approach to Devarayanadurga NOW THE ROAD IS GOOD. On this route you get Devarayanadurga first, and then as you go towards Kyatsandra, you get another Hanuman and Shankara temple, a little further is Namada Chilume and then Siddaganga mutt (different from Siddagange betta) and a kilometer from there is Kyatsandra where you hit Banglore Tumkur road.
2. The other route from banglore is from Kyatsandra. About 1Km after crossing second toll gate on Tumkur road take right at Kyatsandra. After crossing railway level cross you reach Siddaganga Mutt then Namada Chilume then Hanuman Temple and finally Devarayanadurga. The roads on this side are much better and this route is shorter.

Mona Lisa

Mona Lisa (also known as La Gioconda) is a 16th century portrait painted in oil on a poplar panel by Leonardo da Vinci during the Italian Renaissance. The work is owned by the Government of France and is on the wall in the Louvre in Paris, France with the title Portrait of Lisa Gherardini, wife of Francesco del Giocondo.[1] It is perhaps the most famous and iconic painting in the world.

Artist : Leonardo da Vinci
Year : c. 1503–1506
Type : Oil on poplar
Dimensions : 77 cm × 53 cm (30 in × 21 in)
Location : Musée du Louvre, Paris

The painting is a half-length portrait and depicts a woman whose expression is often described as enigmatic.[2][3] The ambiguity of the sitter's expression, the monumentality of the half-figure composition, and the subtle modeling of forms and atmospheric illusionism were novel qualities that have contributed to the painting's continuing fascination.[1] It is probably the most famous painting that has ever been stolen from the Louvre and recovered. Few other works of art have been subject to as much scrutiny, study, mythologizing, and parody.[4] A charcoal and graphite study of the Mona Lisa attributed to Leonardo is in the Hyde Collection, in Glens Falls, NY.[5]

Guinness World Records 2009 Edition

THE GLOBAL BEST-SELLER RETURNS WITH REMARKABLE NEW RECORDS, ALL EXCLUSIVE PHOTOGRAPHY AND A 3D PERSPECTIVE!

Guinness World Records Launched 2009 Edition

Guinness World Records released the 2009 edition of the internationally-revered-bestseller in the first-ever worldwide launch.

54 years and counting, the globally acclaimed book surpassed Jamie Oliver and Russell Brand during nine consecutive weeks at # 1 on the UK best-seller list in 2007. This year, Guinness World Records 2009 hits the scene even bigger and better than its predecessor with thousands of new and updated records, unique photography and - for the first time ever - 3D special features. In an eclectic mix of content, the upcoming edition remains loyal to old favourites Tallest Living Man, epic journeys such as Fastest Round the World Cycle and record-breaking athleticism The Men’s 100 m,while introducing eye-catching new features such as life-size gatefolds of the new Shortest Man, 3D dinosaurs and pictures, and record sections devoted solely to Harry Potter and celebrities in the “Hollywood Hall of Fame”.

Among pages of brand new achievements, Guinness World Records presents updates on many of its classic records. The 2009 edition reveals Edna Parker (US) as the Oldest Living Person (114 years and 115 days); 105-year old Edith Gulliford (UK) as the Oldest Bridesmaid; and for canine lovers, the Longest Dog, Irish Wolfhound Mon Ami von der Oelmühle, with an impressive nose-to-tail-tip length of 232 cm (91.3 in).

In the cinematic arena, a number of high calibre stars achieved amazing feats. Samuel L Jackson set the record for the Highest Grossing Actor with a whopping 68 movies at a total gross of $7.42 billion (£3.94 billion). Fans of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp (both USA) can celebrate that the actor/director union between the two became the Most Lucrative Movie Partnership ever formed, as their five blockbuster films netted an amazing £287m ($570.6 million). Angelina Jolie seizes last year’s shared record from Jennifer Aniston and goes solo as Most Powerful Actress. Meanwhile, Jolie’s husband (and Aniston’s ex) Brad Pitt topples Tom Cruise as Most Powerful Actor, clearly crowning “Brangelina” Hollywood’s most powerful couple. Other record-breakers include the 21 Bond movies and Transformers (USA, 2007) which mark the Highest Grossing Movie Series and Most Downloaded Movie respectively.

From the world of television, the new edition recognizes Lost (ABC) as the Most Downloaded Show of all time, however, in a bizarre record twist it loses its title for Most Popular TV Show to hospital drama House (Fox), starring Hugh Laurie (UK) as the unconventional maverick Dr Gregory.

In the world of music, fallen pop princess Britney Spears once again creates headlines as she beats party pal Paris Hilton as the Most Searched Person on the Internet. The UK can also pride itself on an impressive line-up of British music record-breakers in the upcoming book. The Sugababes’ single ‘About You Now’ became the First Track by a British Pop Act to Top the Singles Chart solely on the strength of download sales and broke long standing record Biggest Chart Mover to the No.1 Position in the UK jumping from No. 35 to top spot beating previous record Captian Sensible’s ‘Happy Talk’ from 1982. X Factor winner Leona Lewis seized the spot for Best Selling Debut Album in the UK in One Week by a Female with her debut album Spirit, also creating another new record for Fastest Selling Album to Reach 1 Million Copies in the UK by a Female Artist. Singer and tabloid favourite Amy Winehouse made it into Guinness World Records 2009 through her achievement for the Most Grammy Awards Won by a British female Act as she took home five of the six awards that she was nominated for at the annual LA Grammy Awards show in 2008. However, it’s not just the rising stars of the UK who receive accolades in this year’s edition; Led Zeppelin broke the world record for the Highest Demand for Tickets for One Music Concert when 20 million requests came through the 02 Arena for the one-time reunion show in December 2007. Sir Paul McCartney became the Most Successful Songwriter who has written/co written 188 charted records, of which 91 reached the Top 10 and 33 made it to No.1 totalling 1,662 weeks on the chart (up to the beginning of 2008)

Those who count on Guinness World Records to deliver the wacky, weird and bizarre will not be disappointed! This year’s edition includes the world record for the Youngest Club DJ (7 years and 98 days) the Most Breast Milk Donated by 1 Person (135.5 litres), the Largest Underwater Press Conference (61 journalists) and the Most Dangerous Cheese to human health, Casu Marzu (''rotten cheese'').

The 2009 Edition also presents a special feature devoted solely to the international phenomenon known as Guinness World Records Day. This day celebrates the anniversary of Guinness World Records officially becoming the biggest best selling copyright book of all time. Last year more than 100,000 people united across the globe to break records and make their mark in Guinness World Records history. This section of the book highlights all of the new achievements recorded on this day in 2007 and provides information on how to get involved with Guinness World Records Day 2008 on 13th November.
